Workshop on Goods and Services Tax (GST) by IMERT in association with S.P.Pune University

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) was launched on 1 July 2017. It has been termed a potential game changer, the single biggest tax reform undertaken by India in 70 years of independence. It is founded on the concept of “one nation, one market and one tax”. It has replaced the earlier indirect tax system. The new GST Act has brought several fundamental as well as procedural changes. These changes are extremely significant from the view point of economy, industry, business organizations as well as individuals. Obviously, this needs to be studied and researched by faculty members from Commerce and Management domain. Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has modified accordingly indirect taxation syllabus of commerce and management faculties. In view of the above, the management institutes and commerce colleges are required to equip themselves with the faculty members who are having knowledge of the GST in order to teach and assess the students for the subject. Accordingly, at IMERT a full day Quality Improvement Workshop on GST was organized jointly with and on behalf of SPPU on 2nd February 2018. Dr.Prafulla Pawar (Director IQAC, SPPU, Pune) graced the occasion as a Chief Guest for Valedictory function.Resource persons were Dr. Devidas B. Bharati (Director RIMRD, Pune) and CA Darshan Shah (Accredited GST Trainer). 65 faculty members from various institutions attended the workshop. Dr.Uttam Sapate coordinated the workshop.
